The Year of Faith will begin on 11th October 2012 and continue to the Feast of Christ the King on 24th November 2013. The Year of Faith is a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. The realisation of the Second Vatican Council was spoken of by many in our Listening Events and Pope Benedict’s Letter resonates closely with the desire expressed by the people of our Diocese of Down and Connor that the power and beauty of our faith be strengthened and shared with others. “The Year of Faith is intended to contribute to a renewed conversion to the Lord Jesus and to the rediscovery of faith, so that the members of the Church will be credible and joy-filled witnesses to the Risen Lord in the world of today.”
The Living Church office will support the Diocese in the organisation and delivery of the Year of Faith Pastoral Recommendations. The office are currently developing opportunities to launch the Year of Faith, to provide opportunities for Catechesis across the Diocese, to provide meaningful forums to further our knowledge of the Church and its teachings and in collaboration with the Diocesan Youth Commission run events specifically designed for our young people.
