RedWednesday 22nd November 2017

Last year Aid to the Church in Need (UK) launched #RedWednesday, a campaign calling on UK  Christians and others to stand up for faith and freedom and to shine a light on the discrimination and violence faced by millions of Christians around the world today.  Declan Quinn, the National Director of Aid to the Church in Need (Ireland) wrote to Archbishop Eamon Martin in July 2017 about ACN’s #RedWednesday campaign.  The Northern Bishops discussed it at their late summer meeting and Bishop Noel is keen that clergy in the diocese know about the initiative.  Parish Priests are encouraged to floodlight the parish church (if already floodlit) in RED on Wednesday 22nd November and to encourage the faithful to wear a red item of clothing on this date in order to highlight the plight of Christians being persecuted and, of course, to offer prayers for their relief.

Lighting filter colours and flexible coloured polycarbonate material (like acetate) can be obtained from theatrical suppliers https://www.stagedepot.co.uk/lighting/lighting-gel
